L1G01 Numbers in Korean = Sino-Korean and Native-Korean

Usage:
  • There are 2 numbers systems in Korean: Sino-Korean numbers and Native-Korean numbers.
  • Sino-Korean numbers are used for counting �modern things� such as: phone number, bus number, height, weight,  address numbers, years, month, minutes, seconds, and money.
  • Native-Korean numbers are used to express times, ages, and counting units.




Sino-Korean numbers & specific usage:

?? - 100000 (one hundred thousands)

1. Counting of large numbers is based on units of 10 thousand (1?), instead of 1 thousand (1?) as in English.
E.g. 2017030 = ???? ?? ??

2. When a number larger than 1 begins with 1, the initial 1 is not pronounced.
E.g. 11 = ?? ;   120 = ? ??  ; 11050 = ? ? ??

3. 16, 26, 36,...96 are pronounced as [??, ???, ???�]

4. �0� is pronounced as ?  or ? (interchangeably). But when spelling phone number,  ? is used.
E.g 010-5505-5055  = ??? ?????[?] ????  (in this case: ? is pronounced as ?)
