Koti
Koti
I cant believe that I havent written about koti yet! I do have posts about common nouns such as lapsi, vuosi and mkki, but nothing about koti until now.
Here are some sentences with koti:
- genitive: Meidn kodin vieress on puisto. - There is a park next to our home.
- partitive: Minulla on kaksi kotia. - I have two homes.
- illative: M menen kotiin. - Im going (to) home.
- ablative: Tll tuoksuu ihan meidn kodilta. - It smells just like our home here.
- essive: Hn pit tt kotinaan. - He conciders this his home.
- translative: Kutsutko sin tt kodiksi? - Do you call this a home?
You have probably noticed that the declination is irregular in inessive and elative:
- Miss sin olit? - Kotona. - Where were you? - At home. (Kotona is actually a locative, but lets just focus on the fact that it means at home.)
- Mist sin tulet? - Kotoa. - Where do you come from? - From home.
However, you can the regular forms in these kind of sentences:
- Nin jrjestt juhlat pieness kodissa. - Heres how youll organize a party in a small home. (In a home in general)
- Miss pivkodissa teidn lapset ovat? - To which daycare do your children go?
- M tykkn sun kodista! - I like your home!
- Me puhutaan Tiinan uudesta kodista. - Were talking about Tiinas new home.
